We started our new Tollcross Counts topic in the Numeracy Assembly today.

Number Recognition is all about being able to see numbers in all of their forms eg written words, physical representation(dots or images), within a context ( eg money )…

We were also looking at different number systems like Roman numerals and the Mayan number system. We created our own number system from 0-9 using emojis! 🐛➕🌵 = 🦂

You could create your own sums or challenges at home using the emoji code!

The classes created some very challenging Number of the Day tasks for their partner classes during Maths Week, we were still working on them this week!

Brilliant brains!

P4, P5 and P6 had a visit from the Head of Maths at Napier university this week!

They found out about her life, interests and love of Maths!

They even had a go at some of her tricky maths problems.

We will be sharing our wonderful #mathsweekscot activities with you on class blogs and the main blog!

The pupils had their first Tollcross Counts Assembly yesterday to start our current topic ‘counting forwards and backwards’

Classes will be playing a range of games and joining in activities that practice counting.

Whether this be from 0-20, 10,000-50,000 or 1.21-2.91!

It was lovely to see our pupils excited about numbers and joining in during assembly.

Both classes have settled into their new classrooms after an exciting playtime with the resident Dalry bunnies 🐰
