Message for the Commonwealth Games Team
In March this year some of the team from the Opening Ceremony had the pleasure of working with children from Tollcross Primary School in creating good will messages to the athletes of the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
We travelled across Scotland, collecting nearly 400 warm and welcoming
hand written and illustrated messages from children from 5 schools. Prints of the messages will be distributed to the athletes at the end of the Opening Ceremony. It may be that this isn’t shown on the broadcast but do know that it will happen. We took some wonderful photos of the children enjoying the storytelling and message-writing workshops. We may feature some of these ‘making of’ photos in the Opening Ceremony programme and in the media guide.
The Opening Ceremony starts at 9pm on Wednesday 23 July.
Look at the lovely Easter cards we got from our Polish penpals!
Congratulations !
Hola from Madrid !
Hello to everyone at Tollcross. We went to visit our Spanish partner schools today and it was really interesting.The staff and pupils were very keen to find out about Tollcross Primary and welcomed us to their school. We visited classes and were treated to a performance of the school song. We will be back in schools tomorrow and I will give out the information circles P6 made. Will update the blog with more information tomorrow. Hope everyone is having a good week at Tollcross. Adios
Religious Observance at Tollcross Primary
Pupils will attend Assembly each week. The focus of these varies across the year. Each year, every class organises an Assembly for all pupils, staff and their parents. We also have Assemblies which tell the children about Religious Festivals from many world religions, including Christianity. This session these Assemblies include, amongst many other festivals;
24 October Harvest
12 December Advent
19 December Nativity
9 January Epiphany
6 March Lent
24 April Easter
Parents are free to withdraw their child from all or any of these Assemblies. Please note however, they are not worship and will not include prayers.
