P7 had a great morning at Edinburgh Castle for the launch of the Scotspirit Event. We met the First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon and stunt cyclist Danny MacAskill. It was exciting to be involved in this event and we would like to thank the First Minister for being in all our selfies.

Along with amendments outlined in a motion presented by the Capital Coalition, the full meeting of the City of Edinburgh Council on 4 February 2016 approved the recommendations included in the report “Outcome of the Statutory Consultation Process on Options to Address School Capacity and Accommodation Pressures in South Edinburgh”. Copies of the Outcome Report and the Capital Coalition’s Motion are available on the south Edinburgh Consultation section of the Council’s website http://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/southedinburghschools.
As the Council approval includes the decision to close the nursery classes of South Morningside Primary School which are located at Fairmilehead Church Hall, in line with the requirements of the Schools (Consultation) (Scotland) Act 2010 as amended by the Children and Young People (Scotland) Act 2014, the Council will now notify the Scottish Ministers about this closure proposal. The Scottish Ministers then have eight weeks from the date of the Council decision to decide whether to call in the nursery closure proposals for determination. Any person wishing to make a representation to Scottish Ministers as to whether the decision should, or should not, be called in have until midnight on Wednesday 24 February to make a representation and details of how to do so are also provided on the Council’s website at http://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/southedinburghschools.
