Screen Shot 2014-09-22 at 19.07.00
A consultation is underway to help draw up plans for new 20 mph speed limits across Edinburgh. Following a successful pilot in South Edinburgh, a 20 mph speed limit is now proposed for the City Centre, main shopping streets and residential areas.

Whatever your views about our 20 mph speed limit proposals, we want to hear from you. You can email your views to the address below or use the online questionnaire. Drop-in events, public meetings and exhibitions are also taking place across the city.

An interactive map of the draft proposals, a list of frequently asked questions and details of the engagement events are available on the Council’s website at www.edinburgh.gov.uk/20mph

Please forward this email to any contacts that you feel would be interested in making their views heard on the proposals. The consultation is open and you can feedback until 17 October.

Parentspark Event

PARENTSPARK EVENT: ALAN MCLEAN – HELPING YOUR CHILD TO LEARN ON SAT 20 SEPTEMBER
Learning new stuff comes fairly easily when we’re motivated, but can be so hard when we’re not. Alan Mclean will join us for an interactive discussion on the most crucial aspect of education: what makes children want to learn and what can turn them off? Alan is based in Glasgow where he’s worked as a mainstream teacher, special school teacher and educational psychologist. His passion is what motivates (and demotivates) children and young people to learn. He is also the author of numerous books including Motivating Every Learner and The Motivated School. More info fromhttp://www.themotivatedschool.com/
The workshop will introduce a model that brings together the most up to date psychological thinking to shine a light on the best kind of adult/ child relationships that generate energy for learning.

To get you in the mood you can take Alan’s quiz here:http://www.whatMotivatesLearning.com
