Pupils will attend Assembly each week. The focus of these varies across the year. Each year, every class organises an Assembly for all pupils, staff and their parents. We also have Assemblies which tell the children about Religious Festivals from many world religions, including Christianity. This session these Assemblies include, amongst many other festivals;
30 October Harvest
4 December Advent
18 December Nativity
8 January Epiphany
26 February Lent
26 April Easter
Parents are free to withdraw their child from all or any of these Assemblies. Please note however, they are not worship and will not include prayers.
From today our P2 class will finish school at the later time of 3.15pm. From P3-P7 the finish times remain unchanged.
We were delighted to welcome some of our new P1 pupils to Tollcross today. The boys and girls will come into school in small groups over the first three days.
From Monday 18 August all P1 pupils will come to school until 12 Noon. Then from Monday 25 August P1 pupils will stay for the whole day until 3.15pm.
We look forward to seeing another group of P1 girls and boys tomorrow.
We are looking forward to welcoming our staff and pupils back to Tollcross Primary, we hope you have had a lovely summer holiday and have enjoyed the sunshine. We will welcome our staff back on Monday 11th August and pupils on Wednesday 13th August. All of our new Primary 1 pupils should have a letter indicating a start date for the new term, we look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to our Tollcross family.
A few parents have asked for exemplification of the levels on the pupil report. The table below is a general guide to the five curriculum levels with progression to qualifications. The framework is designed to be flexible to permit careful planning for those with additional support needs, including those who have a learning difficulty and those who are particularly able or talented. Pupils progress through the levels from Developing (D), Consolidating (C) and Secure (S). This may be recorded at First Level Secure (1S) etc. Should you wish more detail it is available on the Education Scotland Website.
| Level | Stage |
|---|---|
| Early | The pre-school years and P1, or later for some. |
| First | To the end of P4, but earlier or later for some. |
| Second | To the end of P7, but earlier or later for some. |
| Third and Fourth | S1 to S3, but earlier for some. The fourth level broadly equates to Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework level 4. The fourth level experiences and outcomes are intended to provide possibilities for choice and young people’s programmes will not include all of the fourth level outcomes. |
