Coorie-In at Home

Hello!

We hope you are sitting comfortably for the first ‘Coorie-In at home’. Today our story is a Tollcross favourite. 🖍

And here are some ideas for today’s craft-

📚 We are also hoping to hear all about some of the books that you have been reading at home and any recommendations that you might have!
You could send us pictures of you reading in your favourite spot or send us a picture of your favourite book.
We would also love to hear about books that you would recommend to others. Let us know what the books are and why you recommend them. Like a mini book review! Hopefully this will get us all chatting and encourage us to read lots of different books and stories at home.
You can send these through twitter to @TollcrossP or by emailing them to admin@tollcross.edin.sch.uk and we can share them on the school blog.
We can’t wait to see them!

Good Morning

Hope everyone is well and getting outside for some fresh air. All of our staff were involved in reviewing our School Improvement Plan yesterday as part of our Inservice Day. We worked together in groups to review progress and identify next steps in our school learning journey.

Mrs Ewen and Ms Brand are planning a whole school assembly where everyone can join in at home. We will be in touch with a date soon. We are planning to add a few of our favourite songs and a Tollcross Quiz.

Our Parent Council has organised an online meeting at 8.15pm on Thursday 7th May. Please see the email sent out yesterday or the Parent Council Facebook page for details on how to join the meeting, everyone is welcome. Hope to see you there, take care and look after each other 😊

Family Maths Challenge 🧠💪

Important to keep your maths going, even on a day off!
This is a fun one!
When you are describing the size of the shapes try referring to objects you know. For example a pea, a 20p coin, a milk lid, the bottom of a mug etc
Swap over and take turns once you have finished.
Ms Brand and I gave it a go and didn’t do too badly!
You can have a game of spot the difference after!

Building Resilience.

Today we will be starting our new Building Resilience topic: Challenge your mindset. We have already done a lot of learning on Growth Mindset strategies so this is revision for us!

We are going to start off by looking at the PowerPoint slides. We will have some singing, dancing and a Tollcross challenge. Lets see what Skipper is teaching us this term:

That was a lot of information I think now is a great time for a song about your brain, this is one of my favourite songs about the brain!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qw8E9WnZTQk

We are going to create our own brains. You can draw a brain, build a brain, mould a brain, paint a brain…. You can use play-dough, modelling clay, string, cardboard, recycling, plastic, tinfoil, digital.…anything really, be as creative as you like.

Your brain could be small, it could be huge it could be medium size. it could be a model, a puzzle, a hat or a piece of art. The choice is yours. You can research some ideas online or get inspiration from the pictures below. Your brain can be any colour that your like!

This task will be fun, but it may not be easy. Lets watch the video below to get Growth Mindset tips from Dojo!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2zrtHt3bBmQ

Now we have a quiz. write down the numbers 1 – 9 . Look at the pictures of the brains and the list of animals and decide which brain belongs to which animal? Answers will be posted tomorrow. Good Luck.

Skipper has 2 more tasks for you complete ( remember you have a week to complete the Building Resilience tasks) complete the tasks at a time that suits you. Send all your pictures to admin@tollcross.edin.sch.uk or tweet @tollcrossP

lets finish our Assembly with a dance, I am looking forward to seeing all your great work.

Have a great day.
